CLICK TO HEAR JACK HALL’S INTERVIEW WITH SAULT TRIBE CHAIRMAN AUSTIN LOWES
The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is seeking community input that will help shape the future of healthcare services the tribe provides to the region. The tribe will hold a Town Hall meeting from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the Manistique Tribal Community Center in Manistique to gather feedback from patients and community members.
“It has always been our mission to provide high quality, patient-centered health care that is responsive, courteous, and sensitive to individual, family, community, and cultural needs,” said Sault Tribe Chairman Austin Lowes. “We want to hear from the community what is working well within the health system, what changes would they like to see, what new services are needed and what the health priorities for our community should be.”
This town hall is part of a broader clinic operations assessment and community health needs assessment the tribe is conducting. Other activities to evaluate possible changes and improvements include evaluating health system data, conducting staff and community surveys and interviews and analyzing market needs.
Each participant who attends the Feb. 7 event in-person will have the opportunity to win a gift card valued at $50 that will be drawn in a raffle to thank attendees for their time and input. Community members who wish to participate remotely may do so via Zoom at the following link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/83897544299.
Clinic employees will be invited to participate by completing a questionnaire with the discussion questions, as opposed to attending the Town Hall.
“It’s important that our health system continues to evolve to the needs of the community and this is one of the ways that we can ensure we are providing services that keep people healthy and improve the quality of life for those who are ill,” said Lowes.
