Actor Vijay is one of the prominent heroes of Kollywood. He gained the nick name Box Office King after the actor gave multiple hits over the last two decades. Vijay, on the work front, after 'Leo' is working for 'GOAT' aka 'Greatest of All Time' with Venkat Prabhu, and soon he will be ending his film career to make a grand political entry. Remembering the actor's choice of films, here are a few superhit Tamil films that Vijay rejected, where he was offered to play the lead.
Directed by AR Murugadoss, Dheena stars Ajith in the lead role, and the movie is an action drama. Released in 2001, the film was a success for Ajith, and it took the actor to stardom. Vijay had rejected Dheena when it was first narrated to him.
Did you know that Suriya's Cop Franzise film was first offered to Vijay? Directed by Hari, Singam stars Suriya and Anushka Shetty in the lead roles. The movie was released in 2010, and it had multiple sequels after that. The film was first offered to Vijay, but the actor declined it.
Directed by Lingusamy, Snadakozhi is an action drama starring Vishal and Meera Jasmine in lead roles. The film was released in 2005, and it is one of the most successful films of Vishal's acting career. Vijay reportedly turned down the film only after hearing the first half, but later called director Lingusamy and congratulated him on its success after its release in theatres.
Directed by Dharani, Dhool stars Vikram, Jyothika, Reema Sen, and Vivek in important roles. The film was released in 2003, and it was one of the blockbuster hits of Vikram. Vijay, after the film's narration, rejected the film as he felt there was not much scope for him in the film.
Directed by Shankar, Mudhalvan is one of the classic political dramas of Kollywood, and it stars Arjun, Raghuvaran, and Manisha Koirala in lead roles. The film was released in 1999, and it became one of the top cult films in the Tamil film industry. Vijay had reportedly rejected the film back then as he wanted to be part of commercial films and did not want to do a political film.
