The Malayalam film industry is ready for this week's slate of releases, with a few films currently showing well in theatres around the country. As Manjummel Boys became the first big Malayalam hit of 2024, other films based on true stories are also being released on big screens as of today (March 7).
February releases, meanwhile, are getting ready for this week's online streaming. The Malayalam films listed below are available for viewing on OTT platforms and theatres starting this Friday (March 8).

Anweshippin Kandethum (Netflix)
After sub-inspector Anand Narayanan and his team's investigation into a woman's missing case has adverse consequences, they are suspended. They are given a cold case a few months later, which is also their chance to get it right. For those who enjoy a compelling investigative thriller devoid of overused clichés, this film starring Tovino Thomas is highly recommended.
Thankamani (Theatrical Release)
Dileep’s much-awaited Thankamani has hit the big screen today (March 7). This film is an engaging account of the real events that happened on October 21, 1986, in Thankamani, a village in the Kamakshi panchayat of Idukki. At the conclusion of these events, a bus service dispute resulted in gunfire and a police baton charge.

Oru Sarkar Ulpannam (Theatrical Release)
Oru Sarkar Ulpannam addresses a topic that is still taboo in our society at large. A hilarious turn of events is hinted at in the movie trailer, which centres on the male vasectomy initiative of the National Population Control Mission, which is implemented in a panchayat. . A serious undertone to the film is also suggested by this, considering the court cases surrounding this topic.
Exit (Theatrical Release)
Four young people are locked up for unknown reasons in a mysterious bungalow in a hilly location. They are terrified to make any noise out of fear of a strange person who eats human flesh. The film, according to the director, is based on actual events. While Malayalam films have previously touched upon the subject of cannibalism, this one appears to be much more in-depth, following the tale of a man who has been shackled for over 25 years.
