Seldom does a Malayalam film cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office given the scope of the industry. However, that’s changing. Within two months into 2024, Malayalam cinema already has Manjummel Boys, which has entered the Rs 100 crore club. The makers announced that the film has crossed the milestone on day 13.
Directed by Chidambaram, Manjummel Boys is also said to be the fastest Malayalam film to cross the Rs 100 crore milestone. However, it has to be noted that 2018 crossed the same mark in a matter of 10 days, according to reports.
Manjummel Boys, a survival drama, is about the struggles a bunch of friends from a small town go through in saving one of their own from a cave in Kodaikanal.

Manjummel Boys is also finding takers in Tamil Nadu. The cave shown in the film is also known as Guna cave as Kamal Haasan’s 1991 romantic drama Gunaa was set in it. Earlier, it was known as Devil’s Kitchen, denoting its treacherous terrain. However, after the iconic Tamil film, the cave became a tourist destination and was named after the film. For the past several years, access to the cave was prohibited. Manjummel Boys is about a bunch of boys breaking the rules and entering the cave to have fun.
Malayalam star Soubin Sahir, produced and acted in the film, which also has Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathy, and Jean Paul Lal.
Former Tamil Nadu CM O Panneerselvam has lost his bid to be acknowledged as the true leader of AIADMK. With Lok Sabha election nominations closing soon, five candidates, including the ex-CM, are competing for the name O Panneerselvam. The intense political competition has resulted in accusations of voter confusion, with AIADMK and DMK pointing fingers at each other.
