The Hallmark Channel actress who fell five storeys from a balcony at St. Paul’s hospital on May 26 is ‘doing well’ after several surgeries, her parents and family said.
In an update to the GoFundMe page for 19-year-old Mamie Laverock, her family said she underwent four successful surgeries after being placed on life support.
“Her body has been shattered. She has undergone two 11-hour surgeries with two doctors working on her, a three-hour surgery and another surgery today. We have nothing but gratitude for the doctors and nurses who have been exemplary in her care since May 26,” read the latest update, written on Thursday.

“Mamie is ‘doing well’ comparatively to when she arrived. Doing well because she has survived these extensive surgeries. She is enduring tremendous pain and continues to not give up. We can only hold onto the miracles of each day and continue to thank everyone for their prayers and marvel at the miracles of her story. Our daughter loves her life and loves her family and is fighting hard everyday.”
Laverock previously had a “medical emergency” in Winnipeg on May 11 and was transferred to Vancouver.
The update is signed by Nicole Rockmann, John Laverock, Rob Compton and her family. It also states Mamie is no longer at St. Paul’s Hospital.
Laverock is known for her role in the hit Hallmark Channel series ‘When Calls the Heart’ from 2014-2023, which is filmed in Langley. Her other credits include This Means War, A Series of Unfortunate Events and The Hollow Child.
In an email last Wednesday, Providence Health Care confirmed the fall happened at St. Paul’s Hospital but gave few other details, citing privacy.
“An incident happened on one of Providence Health Care’s sites but Providence cannot comment on the particulars due to patient privacy,” the statement said. “Our hearts go out to the patient, family, and all affected by this event, and we offer our best wishes for a full recovery.”
Providence said in all cases related to patient safety, an internal critical incident review is conducted to determine exactly what happened and to make recommendations for improved patient safety.
Hallmark Media would not comment on what happened but provided a short emailed statement:
“We are deeply saddened to hear the news about Mamie. As a beloved member of our When Calls the Heart community, we wish her and her family peace, comfort, and many prayers during this difficult time.”
Laverock’s fans and fellow actors have shown their support on social media, with ‘When Calls the Heart’ co-star Johannah Newmarch writing on X: “I love this family, my heart is broken. A devastating time for all who care for Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to make it through this.”
The GoFundMe page has raised nearly $38,000 after setting a goal of $30,000 for Mamie’s care.
