The release of Prabhas‘ upcoming thriller, Kalki 2898 AD, is just around the corner. The movie is the first mythological sci-fi dystopian drama made in Indian cinema, and fans eagerly await it. Besides India, the movie has gained significant popularity in the overseas market. After the film’s advance booking began in the US, it reportedly sold a record number of tickets.
Kalki 2898 AD is a star-studded flick based on the events of Mahabharat. The movie will allegedly begin in Mahabharat and end in the Kali Yug. Prabhas is set to play the role of an avatar of Vishnu, Bhairava, while Amitabh Bachchan will portray Ashwatthama. Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani also have crucial roles in the movie.
According to a report by Times Of India, Kalki 2898 AD’s advance booking in the US seems promising. In 24 hours, the movie has sold about 4200 tickets. With the record sale, the film has already earned a whopping $135k (about Rs 1.1 crore). Allegedly, the bookings for the movie begun in 116 cinema halls, and therefore, the number of tickets sold is impressive.
For the unversed, Kalki 2898 AD was the first Indian movie to unveil its first look at the San Diego Comic-Con last year. Director Nag Ashwin, lead actor Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Rana Daggubati were also among the panel members. The movie will be released in the US on June 26, 2024.
While the movie’s release is inching closer, all eyes are on the Kalki 2898 AD trailer. The trailer is set to be unveiled on June 10 and is expected to give more insights about its plot. The movie will be released on June 27 in India after a long wait. More updates on the movie are awaited.
