A showing of the celebrated and award-winning documentary “Common Ground” will take place Sunday, Feb. 25. The showing is hosted by CREATE Arts Center, Pend Oreille Conservation District, Responsible Growth * NE Washington, the Selkirk Alliance for Science, and private donors.
This presentation will be at CREATE Arts Center, 900 W. Fourth St., Newport, from 2 to 4 p.m.
"Common Ground" illustrates the benefits of regenerative agriculture on American farmland, officials said of the film. “Regenerative agriculture is a mix of Indigenous and modern farming practices that stand by four principles: no tillage, no chemicals, cover crops, and the use of rotating herd grazing.”
The film, organizers said, not only offers hope for a healthier tomorrow, it offers a solution on how we can make our environment and planet a better place to live for ourselves and future generations. “Common Ground,” limited release in 2023, is a sequel to the 2020 documentary “Kiss the Ground,” with both films co-directed by Josh Tickell and Rebecca Tickell.
Laura Dern narrates this film, which features actors Jason Momosa, Rosario Dawson, Ian Somerhalder, Woody Harrelson, and Donald Glover.
The CREATE Arts Center will open at 1:30 p.m. with donations warmly accepted at the door. Refreshments will be served. Closed captioning of “Common Ground” is provided for the audiences’ viewing and listening pleasure.
