Children’s Hospital has opened its new emergency room in Metairie.
Officials gathered Monday morning at 4545 Veterans Blvd. for a ribbon-cutting and tour of the facility. Patient care begins Tuesday.
The hospital announced in April that construction had begun on a $4.4 million, 11,000-square-foot facility at the corner of Clearview Parkway and Veterans Boulevard.
The 11-bed ER will serve children from birth through age 21 with emergency services as well as scheduled imaging tests including CT scans, X-rays and ultrasounds, a news release said.
The project brings 64 new jobs to Jefferson Parish, the release said.
In August, Children’s Hospital opened a new 46-bed emergency department at its Uptown campus as part of a $300 million expansion there.
Children’s Hospital operates another emergency department at West Jefferson Medical Center.
