The critically acclaimed Malayalam movie Aattam is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
The film, which had a good theatrical run, debuted on the OTT platform on Tuesday, 12 March.
Aattam is the debut feature film of Anand Ekarshi. It starred Vinay Forrt, Zarin Shihab, Kalabhavan Shah John, and other newcomers with a theatre background.
It was released in cinema halls on 5 January.
It ran to packed houses during the International Film Festival Kerala held from 8 to 25 December 2023 and won the hearts of audiences at the event.
“Aattam is a commercial entertainer and a film of this genre getting a space in the IFFK is a positive sign for us. In the movie, I did my research and discussed with director Anand Ekarshi how we can give a good colour to my character,” Vinay Forrt said in an interview.
The movie adopts a different storytelling method to raise pertinent questions about the patriarchal society and women’s issues.
It talks openly about the male ego, moral policing, misogyny, and how men deny women their personal space and dignity in the name of patriarchy.
Aattam also draws significance since women’s rights and security are being widely debated.
Joy Movie Production bankrolled it. Anurudh Anees was the cinematographer. Mahesh Bhuvanend was the editor.
