MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - The Middlebury women’s basketball team will host Amherst in the NESCAC tournament on Saturday at Pepin Gym. The Panthers are the fourth seed, tied for the highest in program history.
They took down the Mammoths in the regular season on the road, and have won the last three matchups in the series - but that last meeting came back in early January, and both teams have played a lot of basketball between then and now.
“I feel like a lot has changed for both programs, a lot of people have stepped up for us, stepped up for them,” head coach KJ Krasco said. “We’re excited about the challenge ahead for sure.”
“Our team is just focusing on our defensive play and everything, making sure we lock up their best players. That’s what helped us get the win when we first played them in January,” junior guard Augusta Dixon said. “Just keeping on doing what we’ve been doing this season to earn us the success that’s gotten us here, working on our chemistry on and off the court, and focusing on our game rather than the matchup.”
