One of Mackinac Island's fan favorites returned last week and the island is still buzzing.
"Jane Seymour was on her favorite island for a few days taking in the sights and sounds," Jason St. Onge, an administrator of the Mackinac Island News and Views, posted on Friday morning. "We didn't want to post any pics til after she left. Here she is at the Mackinac Island Airport getting dropped off by Dwayne and his team this morning."
Seymour, of course, was one of the stars, alongside Christopher Reeve of the cult classic "Somewhere in Time" filmed on Mackinac Island.
Nancy Kelel, who lives in St. Ignace, said on Facebook that Seymour arrived on Monday.
"The backstory is we were at the Grand Hotel waiting for a taxi carriage to take us to see the movie 'Somewhere In Time' at Mission Pointe. However, it was taking so long for our ride because unbeknownst to us they weren’t letting horses in or out until her carriage arrived. Well Miss Seymour was quite gracious and I took some close up photos of her. We never got to see the movie because Miss Seymour made us late!!! Darn!!! I’d waited all these years to see it but I guess seeing her in person was just as lovely!
Rosemary Gustin said on Facebook that she waited on Seymour while she worked at the Tea Room at Fort Mackinac while they were filming "Somewhere in Time."
The movie, which debuted on Oct. 3, 1980, is a time-traveling love story, set in 1912 and was shot in locations across the island, mostly at the Grand Hotel, which was featured heavily in the film.
The theater at Mission Point Resort also features in the film. They show the movie every 5 p.m. Monday in the same theater where it was filmed.
Reeve died in October 2004. He'd donned a cape to star in 1978's classic comic-book movie "Superman" shortly before coming to Mackinac Island to film "Somewhere in Time."
The film, which has developed a fierce cult following, has an unlikely plot. An old woman visits a playwright and says "Come back to me." The playwright goes back in time nearly 70 years to meet the woman in a portrait as a young woman. See where I am headed. She is the old woman.
Reeve portrays the playwright, Seymour the actress. And Christopher Plummer portrays Seymour's controlling manager. John Barry did the score, and the movie was directed by Jeannot Szwarc.

The Grand Hotel hosts "Somewhere in Time" Weekend every year. This year it will be held Friday, Oct. 25, through Sunday, Oct. 28.
