New Delhi: Tamil actor Daniel Balaji passed away on Friday night, March 29. Fans, family, and colleagues in the Tamil film industry are all in shock over the actor's unexpected demise. After having a heart attack, he was sent to a private hospital in Chennai, where he passed away. He was 48.

Daniel Balaji was reportedly taken to a hospital in Chennai's Kottivakam yesterday after complaining of chest pain. For the last rites, Balaji's body has been brought to his Purasaiwalkam home.
Film analyst Sreedhar Pillai took to his X handle to share the tragic news. “#DanielBalaji (48) a fine actor passed away late night due to a cardiac arrest. Who can forget his voice and performance as the antagonist in Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu, Polladhavan? #RIPDanielBalaji,” he wrote.

Daniel began his career in Kamal Haasan's shelved dream project, 'Marudhanayagam', as a unit production manager. He later played a major role in Radikaa Sarathkumar's television series, 'Chithi'. He became known in movies as Daniel Balaji for his depiction of Daniel. He also played the antagonist in Vetri Maaran's 'Polladhavan'. But Gautham Menon and Suriya-Jyotika's 'Kaakha Kaakha' helped him gain fame.
Later on, he made appearances in a number of other Tamil films, such as 'Polladhavan' and 'Vidhi Madhi Ultaa'. He also starred in Dhanush's 'Vada Chennai', Vijay starrer 'Bigil', and Thalapathy Vijay's 'Bairavaa'. The actor was well-known for portraying antagonists. Daniel made appearances in a few Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam films. The actor was last seen in 'Ariyavan' in 2023.
