When I need to obtain a better understanding of a certain topic in SQL, the first place I tend to visit is YouTube. Rightfully so too, because if you do a quick search for SQL you will easily be overwhelmed by the number of videos out there.
I want to help you avoid being overwhelmed by so many choices that I have curated a list of 5 channels to follow to learn all about SQL and take you from beginner to advanced.
Now, if you are like me, when you watch a YouTube video, you skip through the video to the information you need then stop watching. So when I was trying to find good videos, I viewed them from that perspective, as well as the quality of the content being presented.

This is one of the best places to go for tutorials on YouTube in my opinion. With so many subscribers, they must be doing something right. In case you are not familiar with freeCodeCamp, they are a non-profit boot camp that helps people learn to code for free. They created a wonderful video all about databases and SQL, which can be found here.
If you enjoy the content they produce as I do, you should consider donating to help keep all the content free.

I recently came across this YouTube channel searching for this MySQL tutorial which was exactly what I was searching for. Up until that point I have not really ever heard of Programming with Mosh and I think that is mostly because Mosh created content in the software development field. There is nothing wrong with that at all.
I found this channel for the MySQL video and I think I will stay for the front-end and software development.

I was looking for a way to optimize SQL queries that were running slow when I saw this channel. What really caught my attention though was that he also had a SQL Server tutorial playlist consisting of 150 videos. You can see why it caught my attention? Most tutorial playlists are 10 to 15 videos. I mean this playlist has a video for every topic you could possibly think of.

I just started watching his videos not too long ago. He is really easy to listen to and follow along with. Alex has produced a course from beginner to advanced SQL user.
Not only is he qualified to create SQL videos, but he has also created some videos that will help you get a job as an analyst along with a video answering the age-old questions, R of Python?

Dave Langer, the creator of this channel, has a strong presence on LinkedIn, which was how I found this channel. Not only does he have a great head of hair, but he also has great tutorials as well. Dave takes a slightly different perspective than most, and that is from the building blocks of excel.
It is my understanding of this channel that once you understand how to do all the things with Excel, then you are more easily able to learn the more advanced SQL and R for analysis. Either way, he has a great playlist on SQL here.
SQL is not that hard of a language to understand and start using. It has many different flavors of SQL and there are always multiple ways of doing the same thing (as with all programming languages) that make it difficult to master. Not to mentions that SQL has various dialects within itself that allow you to control the users in the database, create the structure and tables of the database, and even update information. These are called DDL, DML, DCL and that is for another time.
If you are looking to become a data scientist, data analyst, or work with data in any capacity, you will obviously need data. Having a firm grasp of SQL with go a long way in making sure you are ahead of the game and these channels will help you get there.
