TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) - Big changes are coming to some programs that benefit our veterans,
Those impacted are asked to attend a meeting Thursday where those changes will be addressed and veterans can get their questions answered.
The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center will host its first quarterly town hall meeting of 2024 Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Sports Atrium of building 137.
Veterans and their caregivers can find out about updates from the Veterans Benefits Administration, Veterans Health Administration, and the Veterans Claims Clinic. They can also file claims and check on the status of a claim.
Administrators will also make veterans aware of updates to travel compensation among changes at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center.
“So, some of the big, hot topics we will be talking about is the new BTSSS (Beneficiary Travel Self Service System) travel pay system,” said April Jones, a Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center spokesperson. “This has been a big change across the nation. We’ll have people on hand to instruct how to do travel pay claims. We’ll also be talking about the new kiosk that West Alabama Works, along with the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce, has installed here on site.
Anyone who can’t attend the town hall in person can participate via Facebook Live by visiting the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center on Facebook when the event starts at 11 a.m.
